Processing time for H4 to F1

Hi All,

I will be applying for COS from H4 to F1 in the next week. I got admitted for PhD program for Aug 2017 with full scholarship/tuition fee and am curious to know what is the current processing time for H4 to F1? My H4 is valid until May 2018. I would appreciate very much if someone can give information about it.

Usually they issue your COS up to one month before classes start. You could consider a F1 visa if you think there will be a delay. Keep your lines of communication open with the School DSO or other Authorized person. If your college is well known then no worries at all.

@pontevecchioThanks for the reply! Yes, i spoke to the school DSO. They informed me that it takes 9-12 months now. Is that true?

Then go and return with a F1 visa up to 30 days before classes start.
