Stay in US on L2 visa (did not work) is counted against 6 years ?

I came to US on May-2012 on L2 visa. But i was NOT WORKING and also did not had EAD.
During Oct-2015 i got H1B approved ( L2 --> H1 transfer ) and started working.
Want to know if my stay on L2 is counted for 6 years ?
