AKUSER
I am currently working with a University on camp exempt H1B ,but due to funding issues they are laying off resources. They have given us time until May 1, 2017 for finding a new position before they lay off completely. I was able to secure another offer from the same university with a different department. The Designation is different from my previous position, but the roles and responsibilities are more or less similar with some additional responsibilities compared to previous position. Will I need to get a completely new H1B petition or do I need to get an amended petition, or is both required?. The employer and work location are same. Link to comment
pontevecchio
The new department needs to file a H1 petition for you and you can join them once the petition receipt is available. Link to comment
AKUSER
Current H1B with same employer is valid for another 2 years, so will the new department need to do a completely new H1B or an amendment will work out? Link to comment
