DUI First Offense on F-1. Should plead guilty?

Hi, I was arrested for a DUI. Its my first offense. The cop gave me lane change and no turn signal ticket too. I am wondering if I go to court on April 27 which is my arraignment and plea guilty would it give me a lower sentence. Should I get an attorney? What is a punishment for a DUI?

What was ur BAC level. If it was low a good attorney can help u dismiss the case. Although ur arrest record will stay even though case is dismissed

the police report does not indicate my BAC. The officer tried the breath analyzer 6 times but he said it didnt work out so he took me to the hospital to get a blood test. the reports of blood test are not out yet

i will advise to get a attorney ( this is my personal advice)   Not sure ur background but I am assuuming ur on OPT 

You can ask other ppl around.

I have read abt ppl who have gone for blood test and they level was low and case was dismissed 

I hope even ur case is dismissed

i am still on f1 visa and will graduate in august. i doubt my blood test will bail me out. i think i had enough to get a dui. does a dui affect applying for opt

nope it doesnt affect ur opt application 

u may (very lil chance ) of getting a rfe but in that case if u provide necessary document they approve it 

dont worry abt it.  it all can come down to ur blood test, if its low they may reject the case

I did hire a good lawyer. The blood test was done 4 hours after drinking which might be in my favor. The lawyer said that first offense is not very serious. Thanks a lot for the support and answers guys.

Try to avoid pleading guilty hire a very good lawyer and ask for options. This  s going to stay with you for next many years now.
