Travel to India...When H1B Amendment is in process

Hi All,

I would like to hear your valuable suggestions.

Recently I have joined new client. My employer has applied for my H1B amendment(Regular Process).  I have visa stamping until March 2019. Can I travel to India due to family emergency when my application is in process ?

I applied for Amendment in Jan 2016 and went to India in Aug while its still in progress. I took all docs along with amendment receipt as per my attorney suggestion. POE at JFK ...no questions asked. I just showed my last approved I797.  Please talk with your attorney on this or try to move to premium progress.
