Are EAD/AP processed before I-140 is approved?

I am preparing I-140 petition with a lawyer. Instead of spending money on premium processing, I am planning to use it for I-485/EAD/AP as priority dates are current. Can experts advice if the USCIS starts to process EAD/AP from the date of filing them or only after I-140 is approved?

Hi Sanguine,

one of my friend got EAD even though his I-140 is in pending state. This happens only in case of EB1-C category as they can do concurrent filing.
