I94 issued for 1 year on B2

Hello,

My parents were issued I94 for one year at Phoenix POE. I never heard or know people who had similar case. Usually officer issues I94 upto 6 months, Could it be a mistake by the officer at POE or they can stay in USA legally for 1 year. If they stay beyond 6 months will there be any issues during future visits.

It should be a mistake. Because the norm is 180 days (not even 6 months). Does it show the same online too? If 6 months of stay is enough better to exit than to make things complicated the next time. One of my friend's parents were also got I-94 for 7 months 2 years back. They stayed the entire 8 months but had to go through a lot of questions during their next visit.
