Visa Stamping while we still had a valid visa

I have a question regarding a visa stamping while we still hold a valid visa.

 

I have  plans to visit India in October 2016 and i'm planning to apply for my H1b extension in September 2016 . My Current H1b is valid until Feb 28 2017.  Once i get my H1b extended i'm planning to visit India . Also, I'm thinking to get visa stamped with the new extension approval.

 

The questions i have in my mind is .

1. Is it advisable to go for a visa stamping while we still have a valid visa .

2. If so  how earlier can we go with  a valid visa left in duration .

 

In my case it will be a Dropbox.

Yes u can opt for drop box . No need to worry abt interview slots . It's best if u get ur visa stamped when u have a chance to do so

yes, you can get new visa based on new petition.

1. Yes. No issue. I did this in Feb 2013 via dropbox. My visa then was expiring in June 2013.

You are eligible for a new visa from 6 months prior to expiry of your current visa. In your case you are eligible for a new stamping from 28 Aug 2016. Since you are planning to get your extension in September, you are very well eligible.
