svasa
Hi all I don't know if this is the right forum, but I couldn't find a right forum to post this question. I want to get a visa for my daughter who is US citizen by birth to visit India. I think I have two options : a) Tourist visa ( 10 year multiple entry - but only 6 months validity of stay at a time ) b) Entry visa ( 1 year ) My daughter will need to stay in India for at least 1 year. So obviously I have to go for Entry visa. My question is : Did anybody get a Entry visa to India before ? How soon can I get an entry visa to India ? Can I renew the entry visa in India? Thanks Sunny Link to comment
cap-gap
never heard of OCI card? The entry visa, now called etv is valid for 30 days only, if you get pre-approval prior to boaridng..the tourist visa can have validity of 1 yr to 10 yr..no such thing as 6 months limited stay..there used to be a rule that you have to register with the nearest police station every six months..not sure if they are still enforcing it.. OCI card is introduced to remove all this non sense.. Link to comment
svasa
@cap-gap Thanks for the reply. I know about OCI card. Problem is it is taking 3 months now a days as I read and heard the experiences. My family will go to India in about 1.5 month so I cannot afford it. As far as I know you can stay 6 months only at a time if you are on tourist or visitor visa . Could you point me to any resource that says tourist visa can have validity of 1 year? Link to comment
