  1. Hello there, I have been working on H1B1 (Special visa for Singaporeans) Visa since October 2012. I was on H4 then converted to H1B1. I went in for my second stamping yesterday and i showed my Dad's property and my CPF (provident fund statements when i was working) as my ties to Singapore. The Visa officer told me that it will be difficult to issue a H1B1 visa next time if i show the same ties and asked me to consider H1B option. Now iam thinking about asking my company to convert me from H1B1 to H1B. Now my questions are Will the H1B fall under a new cap and i have to apply April 1 and start October 1 next year or i can just be converted to H1B as H1B1. USCIS statesCap Amounts The current annual cap on the H-1B category is 65,000. Not all H-1B nonimmigrants are subject to this annual cap. Please note that up to 6,800 visas are set aside from the cap of 65,000 during each fiscal year for the H-1B program under the terms of the legislation implementing the U.S.-Chile and U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreements. Unused numbers in this pool are made available for H-1B use for the next fiscal year So can i file a H1B anytime or only April 1 If i can apply only April 1, Last year H1B was lottery, What if its the same this year? If i get approved i work on H1B1 until October 1 and work on H1B from October 1? Do i hve to go out of the country and come back with a stamping or do a COS and keep working? What if i do not make it through the lottery? What are my options? I can continue to work on H1B1 and what are my chances of renewal? How do i prover better ties to Singapore? Has anyone here done this before and if so can you share personal experiences? Thanks again, Aparna
